Intermolecular Forces - Card Sort Activity
This card sort activity can be used to introduce your unit on intermolecular forces, review previous concepts, as a replacement for notes, or serve as a formative assessment. With so many uses, you will use this activity year after year!
Your students will be able to identify the types of intermolecular forces according to their description, model, and relative strength. They can easily check their answers using the QR codes provided. Multiple examples of cohesive and adhesive interactions are provided so that your students will have plenty of practice identifying the type of IMF. The final phase of this activity will have your students identify which phenomena correspond to which of the intermolecular forces.
Use as a stand alone activity or as part of a station activity. Perfect for developing reasoning skills, student interpersonal skills, and phenomena-based learning. Your students will move from passively taking notes on these forces, to being actively engaged!
